Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion

The department now is the largest and most professional acupuncture and moxibustion center in South China and it is the clinical education and research base of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, the traditional moxibustion demonstration and spreading base for the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies, the key specialty construction unit of Guangdong Provincial 11th Five Year Plan Project. The department was also awarded the key specialty of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2015. The department has 1outpatient clinic and 2 inpatient blockings and has a building area of 3000 m2. The outpatient clinic has 6 specialties and 50 beds, and it has almost 2000 inpatient visits on average yearly. The department has a professional team consisting of 49 medical staffs. Among them, 16 are physicians, including 6 chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 2 attending physicians, 5 Chinese medicine physicians and 8 get master degrees. There are 28 nurses, among them 2 are associate chief nurses, 5 are supervisor nurses, 15 are senior nurses, and 6 are nurses. There are also 5 rehabilitation therapists.

As the moxibustion demonstration and spreading base of World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies, the department is committed to the development, application and innovation of traditional moxibustion, it emphasizes the principle of pattern differentiation and makes full advantages of suspension moxibustion, warming needle moxibustion, wheat moxibustion, ginger moxibustion, salt moxibustion and monkshood cake moxibustion, et al. The department also applies moxibustion and acupuncture to the preventative treatment and has got promising results in the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The department enrolls patient with the following disorders, such as acute lower back sprain, athletic soft tissue injury, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, shoulder joint pain, degeneration of knee joint, facial paralysis, paraplegia, nerve injuries, acne, chloasma, obesity, insomnia, headache, migraine, sub-health, chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction, menstrual disorders, et al. The department opens pain management specialty, nerve injury specialty, beauty and body carespecialty, sub-health specialty, gastrointestinal specialty and endocrine specialty.
