Fracture of tibial plateau is one of the most common fractures in knee joint trauma, and it can be caused by the compression due to knee joint subjected to varus, ectropion violent hit, and falling. As fracture of tibial plateau is the typical intra-articular fracture, its treatment and prognosis will significantly impact patients’ knee joint function. Meanwhile, the fracture of tibial plateau is often accompanied by articular cartilage or meniscus injury, knee ligament, and missed diagnosis, so improper handling can cause knee joint deformity, power line or stability problems, leading to the obstacles of joint function. Therefore, the diagnosis and treatment of fracture of the tibia platform is an important subject in knee joint trauma surgery.
The department adopts surgical treatment for patients whose collapse of articular surface of the plateau fracture exceeds 2 mm, lateral displacement exceeds 5 mm or merged knee ligament damage and genu varus or valgus knee exceeds 5°. During operation, special attention should be put on the protection of the injured soft tissue. The department adopts minimally invasive incision surgery to limit incision and achieve effective internal fixation, as well as postoperative negative pressure drainage and use of dehydrating agent. It also encourages the patient to takes early knee joint functional exercise to reduce the postoperative complications. Meanwhile, through external and internal usage of Chinese herbal medicine, the hematoma is eliminated, pain is relieved, and the callus growth is promoted, creating a good condition for the patients to carry out the functional exercise and early loading. Combined with Chinese herbal fumigation and washing, adhesion is relaxed and spasm is relieved, which is beneficial to the recovery of hip function.
