time:2016-09-07 from:Foshan Hospital of TCM

This fracture refers to the fracture of the base of first metacarpal with dislocation or subluxation of the carpometacarpal joint of thumb, which was also called Bennett fracture in Western medicine. If not managed properly, the disorder can cause great harm to the victim.

Traditional therapies include closed reduction, internal fixation with Kirschner wire, plaster external fixation or open reduction and internal fixation. In order to reduce the in-hospital time, increase the healing rate of fracture, and recover the function earlier, the department uses closed reduction, external fixation with bracket (internal fixation with Kirschner wire when necessary) without surgery, which has obtained better curative effect.
